August 15, 2008: A one euro coin has been found in Spain bearing a portrait of cartoon character Homer Simpson.  Apparently, Homer's profile replaced that of the King of Spain, Juan Carlos.  No one has yet come forward and taken responsibility for this royal art attack. A Spanish store owner, Jose Martinez, was counting his takings at the end of the day when he discovered the unique coin.   Homer's large head and bulging eyes contrasted sharply with the more regal features of his majesty King Juan Carlos.  This appearance of international superstar Homer J. Simpson is likely to raise the image of the Spanish King. The coin, the only one to show up, was carefully carved by a skilled artisan.  Mr. Martinez reported that he has been offered twenty Euros for the collectible. < Prev   Next >
