August 18, 2008:  Once again, there's no change in the overall medal rankings.  China still dominates in the Gold Medal count, while the US has a slight lead in the overall medal total.  Britain is still third based on Gold Medals and is number six in the total number of medals won.  Seventy-two nations have now won medals as the XXIX Olympiad. The sixth column gives the total number of medals won for each country, while in column seven three points are awarded for each Gold, two for a Silver, One for a Bronze, then the total number of points for each country is summed up.
