Gusty Spence, leader of the Protestant Paramilitary Group the UVF has called on the organization to disarm.  Mr. Spence who, in 1996, founded the modern incarnation of the UVF chided the current leadership for its lackluster declaration about disarming.  The UVF announced that weapons would be stored in arms dumps and would not be available to the rank and file of the organization.  Mr. Spence has called for complete decommissioning.  The British Government has adopted the position that loyalist paramilitary groups would be treated as criminals and could face a police crackdown if they failed to decommission their weapons. < Prev   Next >
