Just to make it a little easier, what's the number as of the end of 2007? With figures released for the year 2007, there are 4,752 priests in Ireland.  However, the trend in the number of priests is interesting.  The average age of a priest is 61 years old.  In 2007, 156 priests died and 9 were ordained.   If the current trend continues, by 2030, there will be fewer than 1,500 priests in the country.  On a brighter note, two priests received the vocation to become bishops in 2007: there's been no vocation crisis there! < Prev   Next >
