August 31, 2008: Robert Paxton, president of a community college in Iowa, has resigned after a photo of him was discovered where he apparently poured beer into a young woman's mouth. The board of trustees of the college unanimously accepted the resignation. The college is located near Fort Dodge in Iowa. Paxton has been president of the college for over twelve years and recently signed a two-year extension. Upon accepting his resignation, the board of trustees handed the former president a severance package which is reported to include two years of salary and benefits valued at around $400,000. The photograph appeared last weekend in the Des Moines Register. The paper reported that the photograph was taken over the Fourth of July weekend; the photograph was sent to the paper by an anonymous party.
