Heavy rain in Ireland, which triggered mass flooding, may have contributed to the deaths of hundreds of fish in the Quoile River near Downpatrick.  The Northern Ireland Environment Agency is the lead body investigating the problem.  Current thinking is that vegetation, washed into the river by the heaving rains and flooding, was responsible for the problem.   Local anglers estimate that the number of fish killed in the flooding is now estimated to be in the tens of thousands. < Prev   Next >
