November 28, 2009: Bó and Brí had their weekly weight check again today–it was another great week for the pair. Bó gained 4.0 pounds or 1.8 kilograms, while Brí added 2.8 pounds or 1.3 kilograms. Brí now weighs 89.6 lbs (40.7 kg); Bó weighs 95.6 lbs (43.5 kg). They were exactly six months old last Tuesday. While they were at Rose City Veterinary Hospital, they also had their nails trimmed, their ears cleaned and a rabies shot. |

November 16, 2009: Early on Monday morning, Brí wanted to go outside. Bó followed as always. She turned and trotted over to the backyard and stood and stared. I turned a flashlight on the object that seemed to intrigue her; it looked like a cat. It then turned and came rushing towards us?a skunk. I dragged her back into the house?Bó came traipsing after her as always. Naturally, she wanted to go straight back outside. I waited and let her out a few minutes later. I had to give her closure, otherwise she'd bug me all night. She ran straight to the backyard to meet her knew friend. The skunk was gone, but every time she's in the backyard?particularly at night?Brí will search for that animal again. Years ago, Lír killed a skunk in the same area. At the time, he was a fully grown Irish Wolfhound, so it wasn't a problem for him; he also managed to avoid getting sprayed. I fear that a little puppy like Brí wouldn't be that lucky. So, it's time to start sealing up the backyard to make sure that skunk can't return. |

November 15, 2009: Some time on Thursday evening, Brí sprained her rear, back ankle. She was limping slightly; however, the limp got worse. She had difficulty putting weight on the leg; you could feel a little swelling. Irish Wolfhounds grow quickly and awkwardly–they're gangly puppies–so it's not unusual to a have a few sprains here and there. She was taken to Rose City Veterinary Hospital on November 13, Friday; X-Rays were taken, but, aside form the swelling, all was well. In fact, on Friday afternoon, she was walking better and was able to put weight on her back, right leg again. The vet put her on Metacam, an anti-inflammatory drug. By Sunday, November 15, she was doing really well; she's essentially back to normal. There's no sign problems: she isn't limping; she can stand up without a problem. She even managed to jump up into the minivan today. The swelling around the ankle has gone. She'll have another dose of Metacam tomorrow, unless there are signs of pain, that's it. |

November 14, 2009: Once more, the two Irish Wolfhound puppies, Bó and Brí, had their weekly weigh-in at Rose City Veterinary Hospital. They did very well this week. Brí at gained a little less than usual; however, she did sprain her back right ankle a few days ago and wasn't eating that well. She's now on Metacam and is back to normal; she is quite ravenous at mealtimes. Bó did really well considering he only gained 3.8 pounds the previous week. Brí gained 2.8 pounds or 1.3 kilograms, while Bó amassed only 6.4 pounds or 2.9 kilograms. Bó now weighs 88.4 lbs or 40.2 kg; Brí stands at 82.6 lbs, which is 37.5 kg. They're now each 25 weeks old. November 13, 2009: Brí started limping last night; her right hind leg was giving her problems. There was a little swelling around her ankle. She was taken to Rose City Veterinary Hospital this afternoon, where she had her injury checked out. X-Rays showed that there were no broken or fractured bones, but it did confirm the swelling. She was put back on Metacam–the anti-inflammatory she received when she had her swelling drained–which she'll be on for about a week. Brí seems to be improving; she's not limping as much as she was yesterday. |

November 7, 2009: Brí paid a visit to Rose City Veterinary Hospital to have the staples removed from her wound. She had what appeared to be an hygroma on her hindquarters; it was drained. The drainage tube was removed a few weeks ago and the wound that was left had to be stapled. |

November 7, 2009: Bó and Brí had their weekly weigh-in at Rose City Veterinary Hospital. Brí at least gained her usual weight; however, Bó was a little more troubling. Brí gained 3.8 pounds or 1.7 kilograms, while Bó amassed only 2.6 pounds or 1.2 kilograms. If he doesn't gain more weight this week, it's time for a check up. Bó now weighs 82.0 lbs or 37.3 kg; Brí stands at 79.8 lbs, which is 36.3 kg. They're now each 24 weeks old. |
