<p><strong><font color="#008000">November 16, 2009</font></strong>: Early on Monday morning, Brí wanted to go outside.  Bó followed as always.  She turned and trotted over to the backyard and stood and stared.  I turned a flashlight on the object that seemed to intrigue her; it looked like a cat.  It then turned and came rushing towards us?a skunk.  I dragged her back into the house?Bó came traipsing after her as always.  Naturally, she wanted to go straight back outside.  I waited and let her out a few minutes later.  I had to give her closure, otherwise she'd bug me all night.  She ran straight to the backyard to meet her knew friend.  The skunk was gone, but every time she's in the backyard?particularly at night?Brí will search for that animal again.</p><p>Years ago, Lír killed a skunk in the same area.  At the time, he was a fully grown Irish Wolfhound, so it wasn't a problem for him; he also managed to avoid getting sprayed.  I fear that a little puppy like Brí wouldn't be that lucky.  So, it's time to start sealing up the backyard to make sure that skunk can't return.</p>

<p><strong><font color="#008000">November 15, 2009</font></strong>: Some time on Thursday evening, Brí sprained her rear, back ankle.  She was limping slightly; however, the limp got worse.  She had difficulty putting weight on the leg; you could feel a little swelling.  Irish Wolfhounds grow quickly and awkwardly–they're gangly puppies–so it's not unusual to a have a few sprains here and there.</p><p>She was taken to Rose City Veterinary Hospital on November 13, Friday; X-Rays were taken, but, aside form the swelling, all was well.  In fact, on Friday afternoon, she was walking better and was able to put weight on her back, right leg again.  The vet put her on Metacam, an anti-inflammatory drug.</p><p>By Sunday, November 15, she was doing really well; she's essentially back to normal.  There's no sign problems: she isn't limping; she can stand up without a problem.  She even managed to jump up into the minivan today.  The swelling around the ankle has gone.  She'll have another dose of Metacam tomorrow, unless there are signs of pain, that's it.</p>

<strong><font color="#008000">November 13, 2009</font></strong>: Brí started limping last night; her right hind leg was giving her problems.  There was a little swelling around her ankle.  She was taken to Rose City Veterinary Hospital this afternoon, where she had her injury checked out.  X-Rays showed that there were no broken or fractured bones, but it did confirm the swelling.  She was put back on Metacam–the anti-inflammatory she received when she had her swelling drained–which she'll be on for about a week.  Brí  seems to be improving; she's not limping as much as she was yesterday.
