New York, August 27, 2008: Brooklyn and Chicago recently used J.P. Morgan [NYSE:JPM] prepaid debit cards in successful campaigns to take firearms off the streets. The gun buy back programs were sponsored by local law enforcement officials who offered citizens prepaid debit cards for working guns, no questions asked. More than 7,500 firearms were collected at community churches and other turn-in sites in the two cities.

Warren, N.J., August 27, 2008: Cordis Corporation today announced that it has received CE mark approval to market the CYPHER SELECT Plus Sirolimus-eluting Coronary Stent for the treatment of acute myocardial infarction (AMI), more commonly known as a heart attack. CE mark approval means that the product has been deemed safe and effective for treatment of AMI and can now be promoted for this indication in all Member States of the European Union (EU), European Economic Area and Switzerland.

Philadelphia, PA August 31. 2008:  Researchers have
discovered two new genes that increase the risk of developing inflammatory
bowel disease (IBD) in childhood.

    While further study is needed to identify the specific disease-causing
mutations in these new genes, the researchers say the genes are
particularly strong candidates to be added to the list of genes already
known to affect IBD. "As we continue to find genes that interact with each
other and with environmental influences in this complex, chronic disease,
we are building the foundation for personalized treatments tailored to a
patient's genetic profile," said co-first author Robert N. Baldassano,
M.D., director of the Center for Pediatric Inflammatory Bowel Disease at
The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia.
