August 31, 2008: As Hurricane Gustav roars up the Gulf towards New Orleans, news reports are that President Bush is unlikely to attend the St. Paul Republican Convention. A White House spokesperson stated that the President is unlikely right now to go to Minnesota on Monday. She said that alternate plans are being prepared. Separately, Senator McCain has asked attendees to tone down on partying and other celebrations. It's likely that the Convention will, essentially, be cancelled and will consist of the minimum activities required to legally nominate McCain and Palin as the respective Presidential and Vice Presidential candidates for the Republican Party.
