Louie paid a visit to a cardiologist on Monday, August 11; he was referred by Dr Bonnie, his veterinarian at Rose City Veterinary Hospital. His weight was 164.2 pounds. Louie is being treated for an arrhythmia; he receives one 200 mg capsule of Mexiletine twice each day. On Monday August 11, 2008, he had an EKG and an examination by a cardiologist, Dr. Lesser. His heartbeat has improved since his last examination. There is still an irregularity, a slight irregularity, but it doesn't appear to be symptomatic of anything that needs to be treated. Any diagnosis is always tentative. Heart problems are an issue with Wolfhounds and sudden death of an otherwise healthy dog is not uncommon. However, for now, Louie's heart looks fine.
