Stocks to watch on Monday include discount broker Charles Schwab and fast-food restaurant chain Wendy's. Charles Schwab [NASDAQ:SCHW] along with Fidelity are going to be the target of an investigation by Andrew Cuomo, Attorney General for the State of New York. The focus of the inquiry is the sale of auction rate securities. Lowe's [NYSE:LOW] reports second-quarter earnings on Monday. Lowe's a supplier into the homebuilding and maintenance industries is expected to be affected by the housing downturn. Hershey Co. [NYSE:HSY] lowered its earnings forecast on Friday after the markets closed. The company also announced plans to raise wholesale prices to offset increases in the cost of supplies. Finally Triarc Cos. [NYSE:TRY], owner of fast-food chain Arby's, has tendered an offer of $2.3 billion to purchase rival Wendy's [NYSE:WEN]. Wendy's shareholders will vote on the offer at a meeting in Dublin, OH on September 15.
