November 6, 2009: Irvinestown hotelier and Fermanagh legend Joe Mahon has concocted a controversial publicity stun: an experiment to see if turkeys can fly. During the annual Irvinestown craft fair on December 12, Joe intends to march fifty turkeys up the steps of the local clock tower, then hurl them off to freedom to see if they can fly. Objections have been heard from local animal welfare groups. It's likely that a large crowd will gather to witness this experiment and perhaps help gather and enjoy and evidence of this momentous event.
