November 16, 2009: No surprise, but socialist Sinn Féin wants to tax the rich! In an effort to shore up national spending, the party has the novel idea of taxing those that actually generate the wealth. The party proposes increasing capital gains to 40% and eliminating mortgage interest deductions for landlords. The party wishes to impose a 1% tax on assets of €1 million or more?farmland would be excluded.
