November 15, 2011: It's a sad time for anyone from Fermanagh or Leitrim as local business man Sean Quinn files for bankruptcy. Quinn's companies are reported to owe as much as €2.9 billion to Anglo Irish Bank. At one time, Quinn was reported to be the richest man in Ireland. Quinn was declared bankrupt in a court in Belfast. Quinn stated that "the vast majority of debt that Anglo maintains is owed is strenuously disputed. I cannot, however, now pay those loans which are due." He has vowed to clear his name. His insurance and manufacturing companies have been transferred to other entities and continue in business.
