BT, formerly known as British Telecom, launched an embarrassing advertising campaign last weekend for the 2012 London Olympic Games. The ad stated that towns "from Donegal to Dundee" would celebrate the countdown to the Opening Ceremonies. While the ad may have been better suited for the 1908 London Games, this 2008 geo-gaff did not go unnoticed. Simon Hamilton of the Democratic Unionist Party expressed mild concern at Donegal being included in the UK. Though not voiced publicly, it has to be assumed that the Ulster Unionist Party was more focused on the exclusion of Cavan and Monaghan. A spokesperson for BT apologized for the error.
