A new online archive detailing the history of Limerick in the 19th and 20th century is now available. The data were taken from the Limerick City Archive and is an initiative of Shannon Development and Limerick City Council. Records are available from the House of Industry on Clancy's Strand, a home for the sick, poor and mentally incapacitated. Books of the Limerick City Council minutes have been archived for the project, as have records from the Chamber of Commerce and the Limerick City Archives. The City Archives date back to 1841 in the middle of the famine period in Ireland. The archives may be assessed at www.limerickcity.ie/archives/
