A Portuguese Man O' War was found in a lobster pot off the coast of Kerry coast. The creature, a siphonophore rather than a jellyfish, is found all over the world but in warm waters. The Man O'War has poisonous tentacles which can cause intense pain in humans that last close an hour. For healthy people, the sting, though very uncomfortable, is seldom fatal. Since it seldom travels alone, more Man O'Wars are expected in the coming weeks. Indigenous to more tropical climes, the appearance of the creature in the relative cold waters of Ireland could be an indication of global warming.
