What an interesting word. It's pronounced "saysh," a word with one syllable. It's most often related to earthquakes. A seiche occurs in a swimming pool or any other body of water when an earthquake strikes. It's the rhythmic wave that one sees as water oscillaltes back and forth in the pool. Seiches aren't restricted to earthquakes: winds can trigger a seiche too. A seiche can continue for minutes or even hours after an earthquake has subsided.
